Don't feel like cooking? Neither do we! This is a great program - cook one meal in bulk, and then swap the meal with others. Our friends at A Little Yumminess told us about this, which is run in conjunction with 18Reasons. Here's what they say: "Cooking meals is healthier, cheaper, and usually more delicious than eating out. Yet it can be hard to find the time every night to make dinner for a hungry family. 18 Reasons has a solution: combine forces with your community! For this monthly swap we team up with A Little Yumminess writers Stacie Dong and Simran Singh to get your whole family fed for one week. Here's the deal: You bring four family-sized portions of one homemade dinner. -Bring your food pre-divided into 4 family-sized servings (6 cups of soup per family; 4 big pieces or 8-12 small pieces of meat per family, 1 lb of dried pasta per family, etc) -Bring any extras that your cooked dish needs to make a complete meal: a package of pasta to go with sauce, bags of rice to go with curry, mixed greens to go with soup, etc." DETAILS --Arrive at 4:30 and swapping begins at 4:45. --Bring 12 copies of your recipe - so those who don't get your amazing looking quiche can go home and make it themselves! --Let them know in advance if you request vegetarian meals and we will make sure you get four vegetarian swaps. --Meals should be freezable, reheatable, or able to last four days in the refrigerator. Nothing immediately perishable. WHAT: Swap - Homemade Dinner WHERE: 18 Reasons (593 Guerrero at 18th Street), San Francisco WHEN: Sunday, November 14th, 4:30-5:30 p.m. |
COST: $5 at the door RSVP: info@18reasons.org by November 11 (if you can't make it, please let them know at least 2 days in advance, so they can plan accordingly) |
