Stern Grove offers three different types of kid activities: Kid Stage, which takes place before hte concerts. Then there's Kids' Days, with separate programming on separate days, and Kids' Camp, which is a three day camp that runs for several hours. They're all listed here.
KidStage
From noon to 1 p.m. before every Sunday concert, kids of all ages are invited to participate in hands-on arts projects and programs at KidStage in the West Meadow at Stern Grove. A different activity will be featured at each concert.
Troc Talks
Informative pre-concert talks with featured Festival artists will take place at Stern Grove’s Trocadero Clubhouse. Troc Talks start at noon (unless otherwise announced) on the following dates:
June 30 – Deltron 3030
July 7 – San Francisco Symphony
July 28 – San Francisco Ballet
August 4 – Shuggie Otis
August 18 – San Francisco Opera
But there's also Stern Grove Kids Days. These are free interactive arts education workshops with dance, music, drumming and more. You just have to sign up ahead of time. It's free, and for kids ages 4-13. Pre-register online or contact Stern Grove Festival at (415) 252-6252 or visit www.sterngrove.org/ to register. The workshops are held from 11-2 at Stern Grove.
What: Kids Day with Dance Mission
When: June 18, 19, 20Dance Mission is a multicultural dance hub bringing high-energy fusion dance and cultural stories from the Mission district to Stern Grove Festival.
What: Kids Day with Dholrhythms Dance Company
When: July 16, 17, 18Dholrhythms Dance Company is dedicated to sharing the rhythms and music of Punjab, India though explosive, colorful workshops.
What: Kids Day with Chelle! And Friends
When: July 30, 31, and August 1Chelle! And Friends commemorates the music of New Orleans jazz, soul, funk, and rock & roll.
Kids Camp
Kids Camp is a three-day arts education workshop series for kids ages 7–13. Campers have the opportunity to learn directly from renowned local teaching artists. Youth will attend all three days which run from 11-2 at Stern Grove. Registration is required.
What: Kids Camp with Embodiment Project
When: June 25 – 27 Embodiment Project is an urban dance company melding hip hop, jazz, pop gospel, spoken word, theater, and much more into an enlightening experience.
What: Kids Camp with Magik*Magik Orchestra
When: July 9-11
Magik*Magik Orchestra is a made-to-order orchestra for artists and creatives inviting youth into the music and inner workings of music — classical and otherwise.
What: Kids Camp with San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education
When: July 23-25San Francisco Ballet Center for Dance Education invites everyone to share in the love of dance from all corners of the globe and honors the dancer in all of us.

Wow, these camps sounds like a ton of fun! While we have a ton to do here in Los Angeles (activity-wise), there are really no LOCAL opportunities to experience a 'natural' camping experience.
