Contest! Win UV Skinz Rashguard for You or Your Kid

A few months ago I reviewed UV Skinz, colorful rashguards that protect the wearer from harmful sun rays (read review here). The company graciously offered to give one Frisco Kids reader the choice of any item from the catalog!

UV Skinz was started by a mom of three kids, Rhonda Sparks whose husband died of melanoma. The Mercury News recently reported that the melanoma diagnoses rose 5% annually among white folks during the study (1992-2004). BTW, 90% of melanoma sufferers are caucasian. And 65-90% of melanomas are caused by UV exposure via sunlight.
Hopefully you're covering up with at least sun block this summer, but a rashguard like one from UV Skinz is even better.
To win your choice of items (which includes short or long sleeve shirts, shorts and hats too), leave a comment below with your fantasy location for wearing your swim gear.
In order for me to contact the winner, I'll need your email address in the post (or you can send it to blog@friscokids.net and tell me which comment is yours). But to win, YOU MUST STILL COMMENT ON THE BLOG, NOT JUST VIA EMAIL. Yes, I'm yelling this in all caps, but you won't win if you don't follow directions. Winner will be chosen randomly.
I'll announce the winner on July 13.

  1. Perhaps this isn't so exotic, but I would wear the rashguard on a float in the pool in my back yard. I would fall asleep under the warm sun and not worry about my arms burning.

  2. Buying a new rash guard for my older son is on my list of things to do. But, I can hold out for a freebie. My fantasy location for my older son to wear his rashguard would be the town pool of his grandparents' hometown. You see, he would be there wearing the rashguard while my husband and I were off in the Carribean having a getaway without children.

  3. Mexico - lots of sun and sand. And we'd get to practice our Spanish (trying to speak it with the kids at home).

  4. Snorkeling in Maldives' calm waters and beautiful coral reefs. Have blueface angelfish wiggle around my legs and swim next to hawksbill turtle.

  5. I would go for Kauai, Hawaii as a fantasy location. I remember it well from my honeymoon... a big sea turtle swam by so close I could have touched it, and there were beautiful fish and lava tunnels everywhere... and a definite need for skin protection.

  6. The Galapagos Islands is my fantasy getaway destination. I've always wanted to go see the amazing wildlife there.

  7. Our destination would be Wailea, Maui. We have been trying to take our boys there for a few years, but my oldest son's medical issues have always forced us to cancelled our plans. Someday we will make it back to where my husband and I had our wonderful honeymoon!

  8. My fantasy location would be anywhere where I can see the ocean life. I've been scuba diving once and would love to do it again.

  9. My boys definitely need the protection of rash guards and we buy ones every year. Our fantasy (and favorite) location would be on the sandy beaches of Maui.

  12. I never would have predicted it to be, but I have a son with white blond hair, light blue eyes, and very pale skin. In my fantasy vacation, I would take my little towhead to Holland where he can frolic with other fair-skinned folks. We will be wearing our skinz as we paddle the canals of the lowlands.

  13. My fantasy location would be on a yacht cruising around the Mediterranean.

  14. Well, first off... We're about to be in a fantasy location... Sunday... Maui! And we could sure use a rashguard!

But... since the winner won't be announced till after our once-in-a-lifetime trip, I'm going to go with the "Caribbian Island with Comfy Cabana, Books, Paper, Pen, Art Supplies, Kids for Serafina to Play With - And That Rashguard!"

  15. I'd love to take the kids to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. We'd stay on an island and take a boat to the reef where we'd snorkel with our rashguards protecting us.

  16. I absolutely love the idea of rashguards! And I don't think you need an exotic destination to make good use of it, though Belize might be nice! But come to think of it, I'd wear it on a hike, in the pool, basically anytime I'm planning to be outdoors for a long period of time. Leah: ratherbejogging@yahoo.com
