SAN FRANCISCO
What: Garden railway exhibit (Barbary Coast, celebrating SF's gold rush boomtown days and its infamous Barbary Coast neighborhood. You'll see model trains, dwarf plants, water features and replicas of important landmarks of the day)

What: Holiday tree lighting, carnival rides, entertainment Santa, activities

What: Blizzard at the SF Zoo - Santa brings 10 tons of snow to the zoo. Reindeer on display until January 1
Where: SF Zoo
When: Thursday, November 15; meet the reindeer at 9:45, snow with the polar bears at 10:15
Cost: Free with zoo admission

What: Tis the Season for Science - wintry festivities including live reindeer, indoor snow flurries twice hourly, snowman theater, live shows
Where: Academy of Sciences
When: November 16-January 6
Cost: free with admission


SAN JOSE
What: DIY Art - Festive Family Fun. Make your own greeting cards or gift tags.
Where: San Jose Museum of Art
When: Saturday November 24 from 1-3; Saturday December 8 from 1-4.
Cost: $5 suggested donation in addition to museum admission.
