It's not just Homer Simpson who loves doughnuts. Especially free ones! June 4, 2010 is National Doughnut Day. I originally thought that was a bogus holiday made up by a doughnut company, but alas...it's a real holiday created by the Salvation Army (as a fundraiser), to honor women who served doughnuts in WWII to the soldiers.
National Doughnut Day is celebrated the first Friday in June, which this year is June 4, 2010. Krispy Kreme is apparently offering free doughnuts that day. I couldn't find confirmation on their website, but in the past, they've advertised it through their Friends of Krispy Kreme email list (which I'm not on). However I have it on good word from a national magazine, so that's good enough to publish here.
