You've probably seen the book Three Cups of Tea at the bookstore. It's on my reading list. More importantly I've been a financial supporter of his Central Asia Institute, which builds schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan, mostly for girls. He figures if you educate girls, you educate whole community.

I can't say enough good things about Greg Mortenson. I downloaded Three Cups of Tea from the SF Public Library and listened to it during our last drive down to LA. Great listen or read. Very, very inspiring. He's definitely on my personal list for Nobel Peace Prize.
