Halloween 2015 events for families in the Bay Area

In case you weren't aware, Halloween is coming up! I wanted to add some more to this post but realize that I'm running out of time. So I'll add more as it comes in, but I wanted to make sure none of these events passed!

Here are some Halloween 2015 events for families in the Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO
What: Stern Grove's Scaregrove
When: Friday, October 23 from 3-9
What: Haunted house, hay rides, arts and crafts, inflatables, carnival rides
Cost: $8/person - all inclusive (free ages 2 and under)
Who: the whole family

What: Halloween face painting from make-up artists
When: Friday and Saturday, October 30-31 from 4-9 p.m.
What: Free face painting
Where: New eyeglass store, JINS Union Square, 151 Powell Street
Cost: free

EAST BAY

What: Not-so-Spooky Halloween Celebration
When: Saturday, October 31 from 9:30-4:30 (see special events below on October 23-24)
What: Miniature golf in a garden graveyard, paint pumpkins, or fly paper ghosts in the Wind Tunnel. Other activities include a witches’ apothecary, tricks, treats, and prizes. Come in costume.
Also: There's Hansel and Gretel-style gingerbread house decorating workshops on Friday, October 23, 12:00 to 1:00 pm and Saturday, October 24, 9:30 to 10:30 am. Families can decorate a gingerbread house with Halloween candy and spooky ghost shapes. Pre-registration is required, with 12 slots per session. Cost: free admission day on 10/31, thanks to Scholar Share, California's 529 college savings plan

What: Creepy Halloween at Lawrence Hall of Science
When: Saturday, October 31 all day
What: Pumpkin catapults, creepy critters, free 3D films, pumpkin lifts

What: Boo, Bark, Brews and Bites
When: Saturday, October 31, 11-4
What: This animal friendly festive event features paw painting for pups, pets pampering, a pet psychic, pooch photo booths, bobbing for bones, people and pooch crafts, canine costume contest, pumpkin decorating, doggy treats and pet tricks
Where: Jack London Square
Cost: free
Who: the whole family plus Fido

What: Trick or Treat at Chabot
When: Sunday, October 25 at 11 a.m.
What: Come dressed in costume for trick or treating, do sinister science activities, guest appearances by costumed friends, Discovery Lab activities for tots, read-alongs
Where: Chabot Space and Science Center
Cost: free with admission
Who: the whole family


PENINSULA
What: Halloween Hangar Haunt
When: Friday, October 30 5-6:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 31 10-noon
What: Come in costume. Creepy carnival games, crafts, meet the flying witch, watch the helicopter drop the pumpkin
Where: Hiller Aviation Museum
Cost: Free with admission (4 and under are free)


SOUTH BAY

What: Family Night at the Museum
When: Saturday, October 31, 6-8:30 p.m.
What: Come in costume. "All treats, no tricks" party featuring healthy treat stations, creative costumes, science magic, and a book giveaway.
Where: Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose
Cost: $5 for members (kids and adults), $17 for nonmembers (kids and adults).
Who: Everyone

What: Kidgits Spooktacular Event
When: Friday, October 30, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
What: Come in costume. There will be face painting, pumpkin decorating, crafts, spooky photo ops and prize packs.
Where: Great Mall in Milpitas
Cost: Free for Kidgits members. Membership is $5 - info here or at guest services

What: Pick your pumpkin by the water
When: now through November 1, 11-5 (weekends); 10-5 (weekdays)
What: not really a Halloween event, more of a fall event; this is a unique pumpkin patch with treats and nice views; crafts, bounce house, pumpkin painting, pumpkin carving, cookie decorating on weekends.
Where: Shoreline Lake in Mountain View
Cost: $10/kids; various packages to include pumpkin, boat ride, drinks;
