Just one more weekend left! August 15-16 is the last fee-free National Park weekend of the summer. Too busy during the other two? Start your planning! August 15-16th is a free entrance weekend at 100 national parks, including a dozen or so in California.
Where can you go? Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia, Lassen, Lava Beds...and that's just in California. Many parks also have special activities those weekend (in addition to ranger talks).
