This is one of the places on my list to stay. Groupon is offering a deal now for a two-night stay (call the grandparents!) at this Pescadero place for $224-244. With this you get one massage and an appetizer at the restaurant. It's beautiful there - and a good deal for a short get-away (if you're looking for other Getaways, I have a big list of mom-approved ones here).

SYLVAN LEARNING CENTERS
If you're looking to get your kid some tutoring, here is a low-cost way to try out Sylvan Learning Centers. For $90, you get a skills assessment ($195 value) and 4 hour-long tutoring sessions - plus registration fees (which helps if you continue your tutoring there). The total value is $499. It's good in San Jose and Cupertino locations.
