Deal of the Day: Kayaking Tour in Santa Cruz for $25

I love kayaking so much that my husband and I did a multi-day kayaking trip in Mexico - while I was pregnant with my son.

So I was excited to see that Groupon is offering three hour kayaking tours in Santa Cruz, for only $25 (half off the normal price). You can choose from three tours, each taking you along the Santa Cruz coastline. You might see sea lions, seals, otters, dolphins, and whales.

Here are the three tours:

Natural Bridges Tour: This round-trip goes from Santa Cruz Harbor to Natural Bridges State Park, passing surfers and seals in the open waters past West Cliff (an eight-mile trip on the third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m.).

Capitola Tour: Paddling to the coast of Capitola, you'll go past the eastward kelp beds of Pleasure Point and past where dolphins, porpoises, otters, seals, and crofts swim. The return trip follows the guidance of a distant lighthouse (on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 8:30 a.m.).

Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary Weekday Tour: The largest national marine sanctuary in the country (you knew that already, right?) opens to Seal Rock, where marine life gathers, and you'll get informative tour-guide narration (on Wednesdays and Fridays in June through August at 9 a.m.).

The Kayak Connection website doesn't say how old kids have to be to take the tour, but they do allow you to rent kayaks if bringing kids five or older. You may want to call them first at 831-479-1121 before buying your Groupon, if you plan to bring your kids. (I'm posting this very early in the morning, before they're open.)

If you don't want to go to Santa Cruz, there are local kayaking options as well - I previously posted about kayaking in the San Francisco Bay. Of course, you'll pay full price.

To buy the deal, good today only, click on this Groupon link. It's listed on the San Jose page. If the link puts on another city's page, just go to the top and click on Visit More Cities - and then click on san Jose.

The small print: You can buy two per person, and more as gifts. If there's bad weather, the tour will be rescheduled.

Groupon is a Frisco Kids affiliate, which means if you're new to Groupon and purchase using my link, I'll get a small credit towards a future Groupon purchase. I only post things I think my readers will enjoy.

  1. REading the details of today's Groupon Deal, it applies only to their Santa Cruz Natural Bridges tour.

  2. Thanks for the comment. Where do you see that it only applies to the Natural Bridges tour? it looks to me like there are three tours - all of which leave out of Santa Cruz - that qualify for this deal.
