An exciting announcement! I'm now one of the San Francisco bloggers for Oyster Locals, bringing an insider perspective to attractions, restaurants, etc. in the Bay Area. Look for my dual postings here and at Oyster Locals.
Oyster Locals is the blog of Oyster.com, which is a fabulous hotel review site. I'm not saying that because they're paying me to blog. The reviewers go undercover, and pay out of pocket for all review expenses, including the hotel. The reviews are substantial and unbiased. Plus the review site doesn't sell hotel rooms (directly, at least).
The reporters and editors are experienced journalists who have written for the likes of the New York Times, Travel & Leisure, Saveur, Forbes Traveler (RIP) and all the other publications that journalists like me dream of writing for.
Look for their fabulous feature called Hotel Fake-Outs where they contrast a hotel PR shot, with a photo taken by the Oyster staff. You can bet they don't look the same. Even with the $4,000 camera equipment used by the Oyster reviewer.
So please check them out and let me know what you think!
